#139

#139 is up.
The second to last one for the year.

and the Sketch

Heres mine for this week!

Its a Digi with a difference this week.
I created the background with traditional scrapping supplies. (See the Shimmerz Post here.....)
Then Photographed it, and built my digital page on top!  Cool huh.....I can still get my hands dirty AND create a digi page!  Nice!

I used some digi goodies from my own Kit "Everyday Moments" (Journal circles, scallop border, butterfly, hello today label, ribbon banner)
and some from DHD
Angie Hinksman "Isabel Kit" (Stitches, Paper clip, buttons, doiley)
Kate Teague "This Life" (decorative edged circle)

Oh and BTW....

SHIMMERZ BLOG HOP

Welcome, welcome, to the Shimmerz Paints "We're Thankful" Blog Hop!

The holidays are quickly approaching, and we will soon be entering into the gift giving season. Before black friday appears though, we want to remember all the things that we are thankful for this year. We've decided to put on a blog hop, telling you things that we are thankful for and along the way we will share with you our own personal favorite Shimmerz Products, and give you the opportunity to win some fabulous prizes! Have you seen our new collection? It's made up of of 4 new vibez colors, shimmering with golden luster! They will work amazingly with our holiday collection that we are re-releasing for the holidays! If you didn't get the opportunity to snag these last year, now is your chance!

To play along with us, visit the following links, leave a comment everywhere you go, and finally, once you end up on the Shimmerz Blog page, tell us something that you are thankful for and what Shimmerz Paint product you wish you had. Make sure to leave a comment everywhere though, because there are a couple of prizes hidden within some of the Ed team, and DT blog posts! (To be eligible to win these, you must have left a comment on their blog hop post.)

So lets get on with it shall we.....
My project today uses some of my favourite Shimmerz Products.  I love all of them, and there are certainly colours I am drawn to, but I think I would have to say I really enjoy the Coloringz range, just for their brilliance and the fact they are opaque and lovely strong colours.

Here is my project.......

There are many tutorials on PINTEREST on the melted crayon techniques, where you glue crayons to a canvas and heat them until they turn to liquid wax and drip down the canvas....It looks seriously cool.  This is reminiscent of this technique, just a little less involved!!!

I used a stencil to create the background numbers with texture paste, then sprayed the paints one by one along the top third, where the focus of the page will be, I let it drip down and assisted them here and there by blowing them with a straw.

I cut some little mini tags with a PaperTrey Ink die in my Bigshot, then painted them with the same Coloringz paints, with a paintbrush, like watercolours..

I added all kinds of different coloured flowers grouping them in the same colours as the sprays, and popped a dew drop in the centre of each.  (Pinterest is a fabulous source of inspiration, and this is not an original idea, I have seen flowers and butterflies used in this manner many times and it is so very effective!)

You can see all the things I am thankful for on this photoless page,  but something else I am thankful for though, is being able to be creative, with wonderful women from all over the world, using fantastic products.  Its my therapy, its my artistic outlet, its my bliss!!!

Thanks for stopping by today....and be sure to continue on to Heidi's Blog
(number 6 on the list below)

Here are the links, in case you get lost somewhere around the way.
You have until November 25 to enter, and we will notify all the winners sometime shortly after!!

Thanks for playing along with us!! Have fun, be inspired... We are thankful for you crafty friends and fans like you!

A Shimmery Hoppity Hop.....

Robins Nest Blog Hop

Welcome!

What a fun event....Helmar and Robins Nest.

You have Just come from this Amazing Blog.......
http://brookegorrell.blogspot.ca/

Hi, I am Lydell Quin and I design for Helmar.

I Created these Christmas Gift Tags with the help of Helmar and Robins Nest Products.  I managed to get hold of these Dew Drops from Robins Nest a while back.....and I am in LOVE.  They go hand in hand with Helmar's Gemstone Glue.

These were really fun to create, and very easy.  I just cut strips of heavy Printed paper, so they would be quite sturdy.  My strips were 2 inches by 4 inches.  I then glues these back to back with Helmar 450 Quickdry, allowing a good strong hold with no warping of the paper.  Then I inked front and back to soften the edges.

I dipped the edges of each tag in embossing ink and then embossed with Shimmerz Enamelz, then I arranged my embellishments on each tag.  Some die cut leaves, a leafy swirl and flowers with some other embellies mixed in.  Now comes the Robins Nest Dew Drops.  I am seriously addicted to these.  They go perfectly in the centre of tiny flowers and as little accent spots filling out a flower arrangement!

So thats my projects today, using these two companies products.  Hand in hand!

So to be in with a chance to win one of the many giveaways Helmar and The Robins Nest are offering,  leave a comment for a chance to win a $10 Helmar voucher or a $10 Robins Nest voucher and 2 grand prizes of either a $20 Helmar Gift Certificate or a $20 Robin's Nest Gift Certificate.

(The deadline for comments is Nov 10th.)

Lots of goodies to giveaway, so hop on!!!

So next up you will be heading to number 16 on the list below

Thanks for joining in!

Lots of Helmar fun on this one, holding it all together!  Helmar 450 Quickdry, Liquid Scrap Dots, & Helmar Gemstone Glue for the tiny bits of paper.  Its just the right consistency to glue on tiny things, when put in an applicator bottle with a tiny nozzle!  Great idea!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!
Be sure to drop into Helmar Blog to see some fabulous stuff from the other designers!

Release #135....released today!

Hi there!

We released the next palette this morning!
#135.

So pretty.  And the CR Designers did an amazing job once again!

I still hope to get something created with this palette....we will see.  But it is pretty....I think I have just the paints for this one too!!!

Palette #134

Just quickly sharing the project I did last week for the Palette on TCR.  Yes Its a little late!!!  But I am doing it BEFORE I post this weeks Palette!!!!  LOL

So My project last week was a Journal page.

So I am often stuck it seems!
I am always trying to get myself in the swing again, lack of sleep (baby boy, mixed with my own bad habits)
Frustration that I cant get everything I need to get done, done.....All things which tend to drain the creativity!
So this page came about.  To remind me of what I can do to try and get going again!

I got out my gesso, Pan pastels, Shimmerz Paints, Black and white pens and Momento Ink and created my way to creativity!  It can be done.  I think the hardest part is forcing yourself when you think you got nothin'!!!
In the end....I wanted to get started on another page right away!

Here was the palette

The sketch that went with it.....

Go check out who was featured and many other bits and pieces on The Color Rooms !!!

The Big Move.

The Color Room has moved!!!
We have made some changes,  Go see the new site Here
One of the changes neccessary was so we could have our own domain name.  We had to add an 's' to our name.  That's ok.  We do room's'.  We will be uploading differently,  to either facebook or our blogs, but thats ok....more people to share with. (more personal blog traffic maybe?)
Anyway....We are up and live.  I am still adding content from the other site to the new site, and will continue to do that over the next few weeks.

So....The new palette?
Same as before, but we want you to be creative.  Use it as inspiration, no need to knock ourselves out trying to get THE perfect colours,  Use what you have....let the image speak to you, get other inspiration from the image, a shape, a pattern, a design layout, a word....anything.  Use the sketch as it is, or just loosely....get motivated and create something.

I used the sketch this week

and the colours....
This weeks palette looks like this

Heres mine this week.

Some Shimmerz used to match the colours in the palette....I used this page for a Shimmerz Post this week, if you are interested in seeing the colours I used.  (HERE)

Loved doing this one, even if the colours were tricky at first.  Just look to the inspiration picture for help, and go read about some ideas on how to tackle this if you are stuck on The Color Rooms.

Thanks for dropping in.
Have a great weekend.  (and a creative one too if you are lucky!)
